How does Grabit Speedout work?
The GRABIT and Drill-Out are two-sided, with a cutting head on one end and an extracting head on the other. The cutter carves a hole, you flip it around, and the extractor digs up the fastener. But the funny thing is, the tool worked better when we had it backwards.

Burnishing is the plastic deformation of a surface due to sliding contact with another object. Burnishing may occur on any sliding surface if the contact stress locally exceeds the yield strength of the material.
How does stud extractor work?
The extractor nut has left-hand threads so turning the nut to the right (clockwise) opens up the jaws, and turning the nut to the left (counter-clockwise) closes the jaws. Then slide the extractor over the broken stud, and then tighten the nut by hand, and then using the 2 adjustable wrenches tighten the nut securely.
Can you drill through an easy out?
Easy outs are not easy to drill. The metal is so hard that a regular or even a cobalt drill bit cannot touch it. An EZ Out and other tools like taps and drill bits we already mentioned have very hard metal compounds. This makes them very brittle and susceptible to breaking easily when too much force is applied.

How do you remove a hardened steel bolt?
If you want to remove a broken bolt without welding, center punch the broken bolt, then drill a pilot hole into the center of it with a left-handed drill bit. Next, put an extracting bit into the hole you just drilled and rotate it counter-clockwise until it tightens and unscrews the bolt.
What are left hand drill bits for?

If a screw extractor doesn’t work, it means the broken screw is still in the hole that you need to install a new unbroken screw into for what ever your fastening. I would drill out the broken screw using a high quality drill bit made of cobalt or titanium.
How do you remove a screw that has no head?
Start with a very small drill bit and drill a hole down into the shaft. Once that’s complete, go to the next size of bit and drill a little larger opening in the screw shaft. Stop when the hole is big enough to use an easy-out tool in it.
